New wholesale liquor prices took effect on April 1 in British Columbia. The licensee cost for about 15 per cent of liquor products have changed. Any price increases are due to currency fluctuations and market forces, not the new wholesale price formula.

Our action
Restaurants Canada successfully pushed the B.C. government to lower its proposed licensee wine markup. The government’s original wholesale pricing model would have forced many members to raise wine list prices and reorganize wine selections. Read more about our victory.
Next steps
We’re pushing for policies that cut licensee costs and grow sales. We want the government to:
- create a licensee liquor discount;
- allow licensee-to-licensee sales; and
- allow licensees to sell B.C. wine as off-sales.
