Have Your Say: Webinar Consultation on Vancouver’s Single-Use Item Reduction Strategy

Following Vancouver city council’s approval of its Single-Use Item Reduction Strategy in 2018, municipal staff have been working to develop a number of by-law requirements and implementation plans in support of the strategy.

The City of Vancouver has now retained MODUS to engage with a targeted group of stakeholders to inform the by-laws and implementation plans that staff will bring forward for city council’s consideration in spring 2019.

Restaurants Canada members are invited to participate in an upcoming Single-Use Item Reduction By-law Consultation Webinar for the foodservice and retail sectors on Thursday, April 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. PT (1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET).

To register for the webinar: Send an RSVP to Ignatius@thinkmodus.ca.

The focus of this webinar is to gather input from brands with headquarters outside of Vancouver on the proposed by-law requirements for the Single-Use Item Reduction Strategy, which includes actions from now until the year 2025 to reduce waste from:

  • Plastic and paper shopping bags
  • Polystyrene foam cups and take-out containers
  • Disposable hot and cold drink cups
  • Take-out food containers
  • Disposable straws and utensils
